Wildflower Hike

As a new resident to Nevada County, I finally experienced my formal welcome: walking Bridgeport's Buttermilk Trail and scoping out the wildflowers. Dressed in jeans and summer flipflops, it wasn't a well planned hike. But what I found was a trail of treasures.

And around every corner, I found labels that identified my colorful findings. California poppies, blue dicks, buttercups, and lupines galore! I didn't want to leave and to my surprise I didn't have to. My friend had lost her keys along the trail and our flipflop jaunt became a trek. But I'm not complaining, spring treasures come once a year and town welcomes only happen once!

Spring in the Sierra

This trail is just where i'd like to be on this first day of spring. Thanks for reminding me about it. I'll be sure to try and head to it when i'm in that part of the Sierra in early April. jesikah maria ross Project Co-Director, Saving The Sierra: Voices of Conservation In Action

Welcome Molly!

Buttermilk Bend really is a treasure trail. Glad you took the spring-like break in the winter weather to get out and enjoy it.  Go back in mid-summer and you'll be really glad to go in flip-flops and a bathing suit! Welcome to the lovely Sierra foothills.
