Community Organizing in Southern Sierra

Richard Cayia Rowe, Communications Coordinator and Website Administrator for the Kern River Valley Revitalization recently featured our documentary on KRVR's Website and weekly email. Thanks so much! I want to let folks know about this grassroots organization whose mission is: facilitating the social, natural, and financial health of the Kern River Valley for this and future generations.

Richard sent along a photo of their place from a nearby sky cam:

Kern River Valley Revitalization, Inc. (KRVR) is an umbrella group organized for the purpose of revitalizing the economic base, and creating sustainable economic growth consistent with the rural character and healthy environment of the Kern River Valley (KRV). KRVR will achieve its purpose by operating as a resource for existing and future organizations/agencies/projects, providing a Valleywide perspective, fostering Valleywide cooperation on common issues, assisting with access to external resources including funding, facilitating the establishment of action teams, acting as a fiscal agent and through various similar means.

They do it by keeping residents up to date via weekly emails and a very resourceful website. For example, Richard writes, "We try to find & post websites that might be helpful to KRV residents. We now have over 850 websites in 34 categories."

Nice work, KRVR!

I had never really heard of

I had never really heard of this project until now.  I think it is great that this article is featured for the public to see, and that Valleywide is keeping the public informed.  The key to activism, after all, is knoweledge!
