Travel any highway leading into the Sierra Nevada and you’ll see sprawling subdivisions over taking family farms and ranches. Houses and shopping malls sprout where vegetables grew and cattle used to graze. Staying in agricultural in the Sierra foothills means finding a way to make profitable connections with the millions of suburban and city-dwellers living close by.

In the second of a 3-part series on preserving the Sierra's agricultural heritage, Saving The Sierra producers jesikah maria ross and Catherine Stifter hit the highway to meet local boosters of agricultural tourism in the Central Sierra.
